Antepartum/Prenatal Support
One in 9 babies born in the United States is premature, born before 37 weeks of gestation.  Most of these pregnancies were considered high-risk; most were on bedrest restriction.  These women and their families faced the enormous difficulties of trying to cope with the pregnancy and still keep the family functioning.  Many times this leaves a large burden on partners and family members.  The specialized training that the Antepartum Care Specialist receives helps her to provide the continuous and consistent support for the mother's emotional needs along with the practical, physical, and informational care.  Women placed on bedrest will find that this care is much needed and will help her to release her stress and be better able to relax for the duration of her pregnancy.

Postpartum Doula Service
Everyone needs assistance as they ease into parenthood. Some new parents are fortunate to have helpful family members and close friends who live near. These days, many new parents live far from family and close friends, or these people work fulltime and cannot offer assistance when it is most needed. Even if your mother lives next door, most new parents want a capable, non-judgmental person to assist with the everyday tasks and to help find up-to-date resources to answer your questions. A Postpartum Doula can be your support system person to keep your household moving smoothly during this exciting and exhausting time.

Postpartum Doula Care for Families with

Multiples
The transition into parenthood can be even more challenging for a family that has more than one new person entering into their lives. The postpartum doula can be especially helpful to families with multiples. In addition to providing support and education about caring for newborns, the postpartum doula can help you to discover strategies to make your life easier with twins and triplets.

Having an extra pair of hands to hold one of the babies creates time for the new mom and/or dad to get to know each one of their babies and to spend one on one time that may otherwise be hard to come by. In addition to postpartum care, the doula can help you find resources for parents with multiples. In the beginning it can be difficult to believe, but there will be enough time for everyone, parents and infants alike, to have what they need. It is important to be patient and creative during this time and the doula will help you to find solutions for the unique needs of parenting multiples. I am happy to share the coping strategies we used when my husband and I added twins to the four children we already had.

Childbirth Education
Classes taught with a natural approach based on the Lamaze method that will enhance the birthing experience.  Labor coping techniques, positioning, and options supported with videos, charts and exciting teaching tools, provided during classes at your convenience.

Lactation Education
Begin your mothering journey by providing the best possible nutrition for your child by learning the basics of breastfeeding.  Breastfeeding facts and myths will be provided along with positioning and encouragement of the natural bond of a nursing mother and her baby.  All students will receive a postpartum visit to answer questions, and referrals to a lactation consultant if needed.

The Happiest Baby on the Block
